24 June 1989 - Amsterdam
We went to a diamond exhibit (we were in Amsterdam after all) and the Rijksmusem. The highlight was seeing Rembrandt's Night Watch among many other amazing pieces of art. In the afternoon we went to the Anne Frank house which is a sobering experience. Another theme from our time in Europe was the many markings/exhibits/commemorations to different wars.

23 June 1989 - Amsterdam
Today we went to the Van Gogh museum - absolutely stunning!! Even after the amazing Van Gogh exhibit we had seen in the south of France. All the art is one the things that I remember most from the entire year. We also did a boat ride. Note the photo of the very small house - only as wide as the door!

21-22 June 1989 Belgium to Holland
The 21st we drove into Holland - where we totally missed seeing the
border sign - the EU was still pretty new in those days. There was no
Euro so we were always changing money. The 22nd was a rest day.

Another mystery photo - I don't remember the story behind this? It is our car with a leg sticking out of it.

19 June 1989 - Ghent
Ghent was a beautiful city that we really enjoyed! I am sure that had something to do with St. Michael's Church and the Castle. But the highlight was definitely Van Eyck's The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb.

16 June 1989 - Waterloo
This was an amazing place and tour. You could picture the battle talking place - it was a bit eerie in that regard.

14-15 June 1989 - Bonn and Aachen
There's no photos only postcards of Aachen. It was amazing to see Charlemagne's tomb and seat!!!!!
Bonn was also great - we saw Beethoven's house. Gorbachev had been there the day before.
