This was a by-product of the egg scare in England that year. My Aunt Beryl had taken a cake decorating course that year and had decorated a beautiful Christmas cake. Unfortunately there had been a salmonella outbreak that autumn and no one was using eggs. She used fake eggs and as a result when we went to cut the icing, it had turned to concrete. I can't even remember how we got through to the cake which was still edible, but it took a lot of time and effort!

Where some Canadians residing in France visiting England found a dog that was picked up by an Australian living in England and that rode a motorcycle (got it?!) This happened while visiting the Pages who are responsible for the existence of us children. Our mother met them while at Chapel Hill and they advised her to study at Durham where she met our Dad.

In our school there was a Cine Club that my brother and I joined. All the films were either in French or dubbed. The two I remember enjoying the most were La Belle et La Bete and Fenetre sur Cour. The one that I still don't understand to this day is Duel - for years I thought this was a language issue but I now know that was not the barrier.
