Chartres Pilgrimage

Chartres is a beautiful cathedral.  It was where John of Salisbury was Bishop and Dad did his PhD dissertation on "The Educational Thought of John of Salisbury"

It was in this area that I was taking a picture and to get the right frame I backed up and tripped on a tree root and fell on my tail bone. It hurt! I had pain getting up and down for months until it gradually went away.

I also remember this day because in the evening we tried to find a restaurant that was open before 8. Jane and Andrew were walking hand in hand ahead of Dad, Charlotte and me and they found an Italian place that was open. They ran back to us delighted. I think that we all may have had pizza but the only meal that I remember clearly is that Dad had a pizza a la campagne which meant that it had an egg baked in the middle of the pizza. It was delicious and Dad always remembered the delight of this meal.
