We were very lucky to be near Fontenay Abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We first visited it in September but went several times, including taking some visitors.

Fontenay is a 12thC Abbey founded by St. Bernard of Clairvaux. The structure is beautiful (Romanesque). We brought John and Rezan here and also Ma and Pa Keller and I think also Maureen and Jack Taylor. After the revolution the building was used as a paper mill but it was restored in 1906.
The picture of the family looking up is of them standing in the fireplace or oven and looking up the chimney. It was always damp when we went to Fontenay and it is next to a small stream.
