21 August 1988
We arrived in the beautiful city of Oslo today. It was the coldest summer in 50 years, it was raining and we were camping in a tent. As we had a station wagon, I put down the back seat and slept in the back of it. This was helpful to have one less person in the tent. It was very cold!!

For our evening meal the children walked up to a building where they could boil water and they made spaghetti which they then brought back in our one cook-pot to the tent. In my mind I can still see them walking cheerily on the road from the cook house to our tent.
We did laundry here in a large room with lots of campers wanting to use the dryers because it had rained for two days. It was a nice campsite but we chose a place far from the showers etc. Quite a trek at night!
